SOMETIMES you have to step outside your comfort zone to discover the harsh realities that children admitted in a hospital go through.

Staff of Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa did just that this week as they visited the children’s wards at the Nadi, Lautoka and Sigatoka hospitals.

For the resort’s Chi The Spa manager Mala Naidu and her team, the tour was nothing short of an eye-opener.

“It just made us realise how fragile life really is and how grateful we are that we are able to bring some joy to these children’s lives,” she shared.

“As a team, we decided to celebrate World Children’s Day by singing for the children and handing out colouring pencils.

“We also gave them a book and asked them to put down their dreams and aspirations and it was so inspiring to see their faces light up despite the pain and suffering they are going through.”

Resort communications manager Lata Yaqona said all departments at the Yanuca Island property were asked to submit a project as part of Shangri-La’s corporate social responsibility program.
