About 96 youths in the Western Division have benefited from a presentation of farming implements from the Youth and Sports Ministry.
Youth and Sports Minister Parveen Kumar said Government was keen to assist youths because it provided a practical avenue to put food on people’s tables during challenges like COVID-19 and natural disasters.
“I’m here to hand over this farming assistance to Koronubu Youth Club and Faster Youth Club,” he said.
“This assistance is made up of forks, spades, sprayers, watering cans, cane knives, barbed wire, vegetable seedlings, material for nurseries and funding for land preparation.
“I am pleased to note that a total of 41 youths will benefit as a result.
“To those receiving the youth grant today, this is the beginning of your journey and reaching new heights in your life.
“Just yesterday (Thursday), we handed over similar assistance to a total of 55 youths from two different youth clubs. “This program assists our youths to utilise the unutilised land for agricultural farming.
“With the help of your Government, we will ensure that communities and stakeholders work together for a more integrated approach to lead food reaching the needy so that there will be food on your plates.”
