Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica says the Government is on the verge of rolling out the 5G network.

Speaking at the Fiji Tech Summit in Nadi recently, Mr Kamikamica said this should unlock exciting opportunities for people and businesses.

“5G offers numerous advantages beyond just mobile internet, and as professionals in the technology space,” he said.

“I urge you to fully leverage this technology to enhance the services that you provide to your customers.”

Mr Kamikamica said one of their key goals as the Government has always been to connect the unconnected.

“And through the introduction of innovative technology, we are making significant progress towards this objective.

“Earlier this year, Starlink commenced its services in Fiji, enabling people in remote and maritime areas – who previously lacked access to stable connectivity – to enjoy the benefits that being connected brings.

“Leading telecommunications providers in the country have seen the opportunity and have formed partnerships with Starlink.

“I hope this will ensure that the unconnected communities are connected, not only personally but commercially as well.”
