OUTRIGGER Fiji Beach Resort & Spa is not resting on its laurels despite rave reviews on tourism monitors such as TripAdvisor and awards from the local and international tourism fraternity.
The Korotogo property is forging ahead with plans to improve on the high standards the Coral Coast resort has established over the past few years.
General manager Peter Hopgood this week announced plans for a room refurbishment project in the vicinity of $US15 million to $20m (F$31m-$41m), once approvals were granted by its parent body.
“It is definitely one of the biggest projects that we are working on at the moment,” he said.
“We’re putting three prototype rooms together and once that’s approved by our head office, that will proceed over the next two years.
“It’s a big project and we will be doing it on a working resort.
“We are lucky that all our blocks are quite separated from each other and we can take out 40 rooms at a time and undertake those works.”
Mr Hopgood said the resort had been conducting upgrades to ensure guests enjoyed the best services they could offer.
“We have done a lot of back-of-house upgrades just recently.
“We’ve put in new elevators, upgraded our swimming pool and put in new walkway railings and things like that.
“At the moment we are just completing a retail Outrigger trading store here at the resort and that will open next week.”
