Four police officers charged with assaulting a man during a drug raid at Wailea Settlement in Vatuwaqa, Suva, in 2024, have been further remanded in custody.
The accused, Jekope Nakula, Maciu Tuira, Tokoni Nemia and Unaisi Naqiri, appeared yesterday before Magistrate Sufia Hamza.
The case is being handled by Magistrate Charles Ratakele. However, as his court was not in session, Ms Hamza adjourned the matter to a later date.
The prosecution alleges that during a drug raid between March 15 and 16, 2024, the officers unlawfully wounded Stephen Serukalou O’Connor by repeatedly assaulting him.
Their case has been adjourned to June 22, when the bail applications for Mr Nakula, Mr Tuira and Mr Naqiri will be filed in the Suva Magistrate’s Court.
