After unsuccessful attempts in her first two Coca-Cola Games, Salanieta Viriviri of Swami Vivekananda College was determined to do better this year and claimed gold in the senior girls high jump.

A jump of 1.45m was enough for Viriviri to bag gold for her Nadi school.

“After all the zone meets, I found out that my jump was the best, so I was confident to claim gold here at the games,” she said.

She is the younger sister of former Fiji 7s rep Samisoni Viriviri.

Salanieta said her brother had been her motivation and she couldn’t wait to show him her gold medal.

“Before we left Nadi to come for the games, he (Samisoni Viriviri) asked me to come back with something that I will forever be proud of and now I can’t wait for them to know.”

Vitalina Lewaivu of Nasikawa Vision College won silver while Vilomena Fesaitu of Tavua College and Akisi Bolakoro of Suva Grammar School settled for bronze.
