Minister for Policing, Iowane Naivaurua has reported to Parliament that 27 police officers were charged for drug-related offences between January 2023 and October 2025.
In a written response, the minister outlined data showing a steady stream of internal drug cases despite the Fiji Police Force’s stated zero-tolerance policy.
According to the report, 10 officers were charged in 2023, followed by 12 officers in 2024.
In 2025, five officers were charged up to October.
Across the three years, a total of 33 cases were recorded, including multiple-count charges laid against several officers.
The minister highlighted a serious case in 2024 where an officer faced two counts of possession involving methamphetamine and cocaine.
In 2025, four officers were charged for a combination of unlawful possession, unlawful supply and unlawful importation of illicit drugs.
He said all allegations undergo full investigation before charges are approved, adding that the figures reflect ongoing efforts to hold officers accountable.
