MORE than 220 golfers from Fiji, Australia and New Zealand are taking part in the Sheraton Golf Classic being held at Denarau Golf & Racquet Club and Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course this week.

The tournament, which finishes tomorrow with an awards night in Denarau, has brought together professional and amateur golfers for a week of strong competition and social interaction.

Players have enjoyed mostly fine weather throughout the week, with sunny conditions and warm temperatures adding to the challenge on the course. Overseas golfers have had to adjust quickly to the heat while competing on two of Fiji’s top golf venues.

A total of 224 golfers are competing in the event, making it one of the bigger golf gatherings in the country this year.

The fields include experienced professionals as well as amateur golfers who are eager to test their skills against international and local competition.

The prize pool has also attracted attention, with $110,000 allocated for the professional category and $40,000 in prizes for amateurs. This has added extra excitement and motivation for players as they move through the rounds.

Organisers have described the week as successful so far, with good participation and positive feedback from visiting golfers.

As the tournament heads into its final rounds, competition is expected to intensify as golfers push for top honours ahead of Saturday’s closing ceremony and prize-giving night in Denarau.
