Finishing is something the Oceania Fibreglass Navua football side will be focusing on in its last pool match against Extra Supermarket Labasa at the 2024 Digicel Pacific Fiji FACT today.

Navua beat Nasinu 2-nil in its second pool match yesterday, however, they could have scored more goals.

Coach Saiyad Ali says this is something the side will need to improve on

“We could have scored more goals and secured a spot in the semi-final but our scorers were not on target today,” Ali explained.

“Nasinu surprised us with their style of play but I am happy we stuck to our game plan and came out with a win,” Ali added.

Jackson Wale and Rahul Krishna scored for Navua.

The loss meant Nasinu is the first team out of contention for the semi-final.

Team president Jagindar Singh said the absence of coach Tagi Vonolagi did have an impact on the players.

“It did affect us. But most of our players are out of youth and this is their first time to play a major tournament so they will surely learn a lot from it,” Singh said.

Vonolagi was rushed to hospital from Subrail Park on Friday night when he felt uneasy during his team’s match against Labasa.

He was recovering in hospital when his team played Navua yesterday.

Navua coach Ali also wished a speedy recovery for Vonolagi.

Meanwhile, in matches today, Navua plays Labasa at 6pm while Nasinu takes on Rewa at 2pm.
