Ebenezer Saukuru of Marist Brothers High School set a new record in the junior boys javelin with a throw of 54.59 metres.

Saukuru broke the 20-year-long record of 54.08m set by Varayame Momo of Labasa Sangam College.

Saukuru says he had expected to break the record, as he had broken it before at the zone meet in the beginning of the year.

“I feel normal. I’ve already broken the record during the zone. So I was expecting to beat the record again at this year’s Coke Games,” says Saukuru.

“Just want to thank my coach for the training and for making me throw a little more stronger.

Seaqaqa Central’s Nemani Turagavou came second with a throw of 46.30m.

Mahendra Patel, also of Marist, took the bronze with a throw of 46.56m.
