2023 best male athlete Jale Raikatalau of Ratu Kadavulevu School showcased his dominance once again as he claimed a spectacular gold medal in the 1500m junior boys division at the day one of the Coca-Cola Games yesterday with an impressive time of 4 minutes 32.33 seconds.
Raikatalau left his competitors trailing behind, with St Vincent coming second at 4.37:13 and Nukuloa College in third at 4.39:71.
Last year, Raikatalau also secured gold medals in the 1500m, 800m, and 4x400m events, and he is determined to retain his titles in those events this year.
Despite starting the race from behind, Raikatalau’s determination and skill propelled him to victory.
Reflecting on his win, Raikatalau expressed his gratitude for the honour of winning gold on the first day of competition.
“I am now setting my sights on the 800m and 4x400m events, and I am fully committed to giving my all in each race.”
