Competing against big schools at the Coca-Cola Games is an honour for Makesh Nand of Ba Sanatan College after he secured a bronze medal in the senior 3000m open grade final.
His time of 9 minutes 49.79 seconds was enough to get him on the podium.
Having primarily played soccer for his school, Nand was delighted to create a lasting memory at the prestigious event.
“Facing off against the big schools from Suva did make me a bit nervous, however, knowing that this was my final year in high school motivated me to push myself and give it my all,” said Nand.
“I had great support from my teachers and friends who helped to calm my nerves and focus, leading to my success in securing the bronze medal for my school.”
Nand expressed the experience of competing in the Fiji Finals.
“It’s really exciting to compete in Suva, the atmosphere of the Coca-Cola Games always leaves me thrilled and eager to participate,” he added.
“I would like to express my deepest thanks to all the athletes, teachers, and friends at Ba Sanatan College for their continuous support and encouragement throughout this journey.”
Meanwhile, Holy Cross College bagged gold and silver – Peni Bulikiobo clocked a time of 9.45:85, while Samisoni Kaitu finished in 9.46:42.
