The most reliable way to create the future is to make it.

That’s what Penisoni Tirau, the esteemed head boy of Xavier College, Ba did after he left an indelible mark on the 2024 Coca-Cola Games, showcasing his exceptional talent and unwavering determination in both track and field events.

Hailing from Ba, Tirau’s remarkable achievements in the senior boys triple jump and long jump events earned him accolades and admiration from spectators and fellow competitors alike.

In a triumphant display of his prowess, Tirau secured a silver medal in the senior boys triple jump, marking an impressive distance of 13.86 metres, while also clinching the gold in the senior boys long jump with a remarkable leap of 6.89 metres.

For Tirau, the 2024 Coca-Cola Games marked a series of firsts – his first time winning two medals in the senior boys triple jump and senior boys long jump.

“This is my first time to get two medals in the Cokes  (Games) and my first time to take part in ongoing jumps,” Tirau said.

“This is my third year participating in the Coca-Cola Games and also my last.”

Despite not having a family history of participation in the Coca-Cola Games, Tirau credited the unwavering support of his parents and siblings for fuelling his success.

“The support from my parents has been marvellous, and my siblings,” he acknowledged.

Beyond the track and field arena, Tirau’s sporting prowess extends to the soccer field, where he proudly represents the Ba team.

“Apart from athletics, I also participate in soccer,” he said while also stating that he has a multifaceted talent and passion for sports.

Tirau said he did his best to be dedicated to both excelling in athletics and soccer.

Penisoni’s journey to athletic excellence was catalysed by the guidance and encouragement of his teacher Nilesh Ram, who recognised his potential and encouraged him to pursue track and field events.

“Soccer has been my childhood sport. And I’m also really proud to be representing Ba, not only in soccer but also here at the Coca-Cola Games.”

“Now in my senior year, I plan to take aircraft engineering at university.

“The advice I want to give to upcoming athletes is that if your ethics are right and your mind is set, nothing can go wrong,” he imparted, serving as a source of inspiration for future generations of athletes.

Tirau’s remarkable achievements at the Coca-Cola Games 2024 not only cement his legacy as a sporting sensation but also proved the raw talent that comes out of Ba.

His impact will continue to inspire and motivate athletes to strive for greatness, both on and off the field.

“Nothing can go wrong, if you know where your values lie.”

Tirau returned to the football field on Sunday for Ba when they played against Rewa.
