SODELPA vice-president and head of negotiations Anare Jale says they had to consider “the best for Fiji” when negotiating with The People’s Alliance party and National Federation Party before they came to a conclusion.
He said the decision was made after comparing the presentations brought to the table of negotiations by the FijiFirst party and the two political parties.
“We had non-negotiable issues, and also negotiable issues,” Mr Jale said.
“We considered what they offered, we were looking at what we wanted, as opposed to what they offer.
“We also considered Fiji, what would be the best partner to move Fiji in the next four years.
“We considered the matters concerning the iTaukei in Fiji, which were the decrees, about 39 decrees that are put in place by the FijiFirst Government in the last few years and the answers that they gave us as to what they gonna do to address the concerns of the iTaukei and the removal of those decrees.
“FijiFirst party gave us the answer and also the People’s Alliance Party on that.
“We had concerns on TELS. SODELPA wants TELS to be abolished, so that there be free tertiary education in Fiji.”
