The Coca-Cola Games records were rewritten at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva yesterday.
With the games recovering from the COVID-19 plague, reigning girls champion Adi Cakobau School and the Lions of Veiuto, Suva Grammar School, roared back into life to stake claims for the top honours after three days of competition.
After its last win 11 years ago, SGS regained its boys title by winning 11 gold medals, 6 silver and 6 bronze.
Queen Victoria School settled for silver with nine gold, 5 silver and 7 bronze.
Defending champion Ratu Kadavulevu School settled for bronze with six gold, 5 silver and 9 bronze.
ACS retained its crown for the eighth time under coach Antonio Raboiliku by winning 13 gold, 8 silver and 8 bronze.
SGS finished second with four gold, 7 silver, three brionze, Jasper Williams High School finished third with four gold, 3 silver and a bronze.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama closed the games yesterday and congratulated the winners and all athletes.
“You don’t need to leave here with a medal to head home proud of what you have accomplished,” he said in his speech.
“Making it to this stage is a huge achievement. You did your families proud. You did your school proud. You’ve made history as being part of the biggest Coca-Cola Games we’ve ever held,” Bainimarama said.
