2019 Pacific Games: Judoka Takayawa wins Fiji’s 19th gold medal

ONE gold medal has been won in judo and three more gold medals at stake in the gold medal play-offs today at the 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa.

Shanice Takawaya won Fiji’s 19th gold medal and the first in the sport.

Takayawa – the daughter of former Commonwealth and Pacific Games champion Nacanieli Takayawa – won gold in the U70kg category against Tahiti.

Other judokas who are in the gold medal play-offs today include Shanice’s younger sister Nathalyn, Keresi Nadeem Farouk and Elizabeth Sera Valentine.
