THE Fiji Cancer Society received a $14,000 cheque from Grant Thornton Fiji yesterday.

This money was raised through Fiji’s Biggest Morning Tea initiative to assist with its work in supporting individuals and families affected by cancer.

Managing partner Jerome Kado believes that creating meaningful impact extends beyond professional services.

“We remain committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen our communities and improve the wellbeing of those around us,” he said.

Mr Kado acknowledged the continued dedication of the Fiji Cancer Society and expressed gratitude to the Motibhai Group for establishing and providing Fiji’s Biggest Morning Tea platform, which enables entities throughout Fiji to come together in support of a worthy cause. He also acknowledged the firm’s staff social club and administration team, who were instrumental in organising and driving the initiative.

“Their commitment and enthusiasm exemplify our efforts in living our CARE values of collaboration, agility, respect, and excellence and in making a meaningful impact within the communities we serve.”

Fiji Cancer Society events and fundraising officer, Joy Savou, said the gift would go a long way in supporting cancer patients from vulnerable backgrounds.

“This means a lot to our patients. If you know from other services that we carry out to our communities and corporates, especially to our cancer patients, some of them cannot afford transport, diapers, and other necessities,” she said.
