Sakoca Settlement murder accused Sairusi Senilawalawa has 14 days to have his plea recorded.

Mr Senilawalawa, 45, who is charged with two counts of assault and one of murder, appeared before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe in the High Court in Suva yesterday.

Mr Senilawalawa is alleged to have killed Ovasisi Salusalu, 40, on Sunday, April 21.

Police said on that day, Salusalu had tried to intervene in a domestic altercation between Mr Senilawalawa and his partner when he was allegedly assaulted by the accused.

The State informed the court informational disclosures were to be filed and served on the 16th of this month. However, the State is yet to obtain video recorded transcripts, a post-mortem examination report and a few other statements.

The court heard there was no relationship between the victim and the accused.

Justice Rajasinghe was told a Domestic Violence Restraining Order has yet to be served.

Mr Senilawalawa’s lawyer requested more time to advise his client on the plea matter.

On April 24 Nasinu magistrate Benjamin Lomaloma remitted the case to the High Court in Suva.

The accused has been remanded in custody and the case adjourned to June 5.
