The High Court has handed down Fiji’s first conviction and sentence for the offence of contravening a restraining order, sentencing Imran “King” Khan to 12 months’ imprisonment.
Justice Thushara Rajasinghe delivered the sentence on July 14 at the High Court in Suva after convicting Khan on one count of contravening a restraining order contrary to section 42(1)(a) of the Proceeds of Crime Act 1997.
Khan admitted breaching the court order by disposing of a luxury vehicle bearing the registration number “KNGKHN”, despite it being subject to a broader asset freeze.
The 12-month sentence will be served concurrently with Khan’s existing sentence of four years and three months’ imprisonment for possessing methamphetamine.
