The Fiji National Sports Commission (FNSC) has for the first time made public the grants it paid out to international and local coaches engaged by local sporting bodies in 2021-2022, that totalled $1.14 million.
The details are contained in the Standing Committee on Social Affairs review report of FNSC annual reports 2021-2022 that was tabled in Parliament yesterday.
FNSC chairman Peter Mazey was asked by the Committee in October last year to provide additional information on the 2021-2022 annual report.
The FNSC paid $418,250 for national 15s rugby coach Vern Cotter through the Fiji Rugby Union, the Committee was informed.
Former national 7s men’s coach Ben Gollings received $156,739 in 2021-2022.
Fijiana 15s coach Senirusi Seruvakula was paid $83,336 by FNSC while the Fijiana 7s coach Saiasi Fuli received $95,356.
Mr Mazey told the Committee the national soccer under Fiji Football Association, Flemming Serritslev was paid $249,999 in 2021-2022.
The Fiji Bati coach, Josia Dakuitoga was paid $83,000 through the Fiji National Rugby League.
Fiji Netball coach Jenny Brazel received $9,083 while Unaisi Rokoura was paid $47,896 in 2021-2022.
Meanwhile, FNSC gave $430,966 in grants for the hosting of international events in Fiji between 2021-2022.
Fiji Football received $115,000 for the OFC Women’s Cup, Fiji Netball was given $45,966 for the Netball World Cup Oceania, $100,000 was handed to Fiji Rugby Union for the World Pacific Rugby Challenge, FRU also received $70,000 towards the Flying Fijians Test series and $100,000 for the Fijiana Test series.
