Zelvasha Sabrina Ali graduated with a Master’s degree in Information Systems from USP on Thursday.

She was one of 1697 graduates from the USP’s April graduation at Suva’s Vodafone Arena.

The 25-year-old said it took her a year to finish her master’s as she took two units per semester.

She graduated in 2021 in Accounting and Information Systems with an interest in finance and kept on going to obtain her Postgraduate Diploma and, finally, her master’s.

“My dad was the one who pushed for me to get my master’s,” Ms Ali said.

“I have completed my degree in 2021. Since then, he was like, ‘Zel, complete your postgraduate, complete your Master’s. I want to see the certificates up on the wall’.”

Ms Ali, who is currently employed at Fiji Airways as a treasury analyst, said her biggest challenge in completing her master’s was trying to balance her studies with her full-time job.

She is grateful to her parents for being her number one supporters and her two younger siblings.

“I’ve also have good friends who supported me on this journey and a couple of lecturers who have been great mentors throughout.”

Ms Ali plans to take a break from studying to focus on her career.
