No players tested positive for drugs in the third day of the 2025 BiC Fiji FACT on Sunday, according to Fiji Football Association chief executive Mohammed Yusuf.
This means only three players have since tested positive; one on the first day and two on the second, with none on day three from a pool of 72 players, 24 a day.
Yusuf acknowledged the eight districts for taking the relevant measures against its use, adding it was one of the best in recent years.
“Got only three positive, very huge difference from last year’s IDC (Inter-District Championship) so we want to thank all the districts,” Yusuf said.
He lauded them for doing so, as it was an indication that the education process around it was working.
“Other districts had precautionary measures, they were testing their own players before the tournament so it helped deter the players to stay away from this,” he said.
“At the moment, the tests are good results, probably one of the best in the last five years and we hope to continue this in the next round.”
Yusuf’s comparison of this year’s Fiji FACT test results with those of the 2024 IDC stemmed from the 21 players testing positive out of 180 players selected for it.
Meanwhile, drug tests will continue during the matchdays this weekend when the semi-finals and final will take place at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
In the first semi-final at 2pm, Paradise Seafood Supplies Lautoka FC meets Extra Supermarket Labasa FC and the second semi-final sees Ajay Trading Rewa FC face hosts, Stratum Construction Suva FC at 4.30pm.
