THE McDonald’s Fijian Drua Women lock Carletta Yee says wearing the famous Drua jersey remains a privilege as she prepares for the biggest match of her young career for the Super Rugby Women’s Grand Final against the NSW Waratahs at the Four R Stadium in Ba tomorrow.
The youngest player in the Drua Women squad has been named in the starting lineup and admits it is a special feeling to be part of the historic occasion.
“It’s not something to take for granted, so I’m just really grateful to my family, coaches and of course the girls,” Yee said
Yee said the unwavering support from her family has played a huge role in her rugby journey, with her parents and sisters making every effort to be by her side throughout the season.
“World-class support, always from my family. They’re always there for me every game,” she said.
“Whether it’s away or home, just knowing that I have my day ones in the grandstand watching me means a lot. It pushes me towards the extra mile on game day.”
The talented second rower acknowledged the pressure that comes with grand final week but believes the Drua squad is mentally prepared for the challenge ahead.
“It’s been tough. I guess this week brings a lot of nerves and a lot of pressure, but the girls know the job at hand,” she said.
“They know what’s at stake and we’re just ready to show.”
With a packed Four R Stadium expected tomorrow, Yee urged supporters to turn out in force as the Drua chase another Super Rugby Women’s title on home soil.
“Just come out, support us, support the girls. It’s going to be a game to watch,” she said.
The Drua will host the NSW Waratahs at 1pm tomorrow in what promises to be another memorable chapter in the club’s history.
