THE Digicel Fiji Young Kulas experienced another tough defeat in their second match at the FIFA under-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia, falling 9-0 to a formidable Canadian team.
Similar to its first match against Brazil, the Young Kulas struggled to contain its opponents, with Canada scoring seven goals in the first half, including a hat-trick from Anabelle Chuckwu and doubles from captain Olivia Smith and Kayla Brigs.
Despite the lopsided losses, defender Talei Moodie remains optimistic about the team’s growth from these challenges.
“As newcomers to this level of competition, we expected to face tough opposition and encounter new challenges,” Moodie said.
“This experience is valuable for us to learn and improve, and I believe it will only motivate us to get better.”
Looking ahead to their final pool match against France, Moodie expressed the team’s determination to learn from their previous matches and show improvement on the field.
Fiji will face France in their last pool game this Saturday at 10am.
