A social media post by Noel Billings has drawn praise online after he shared the story of a young father who graduated from the Fiji National University while raising his daughter.

Mr Billings said he first met Jacob Noel Singh on January 27, 2024, while the young man was registering for his course at FNU with his baby in his arms.

“I was deeply moved by his courage, love, and dedication to his child,” Mr Billings wrote.

He said he shared Mr Singh’s story at the time in the hope it would inspire other young parents facing similar struggles.

“To show them that having a child to care for at a young age is not the end of the world, but rather the beginning of a different kind of strength and purpose.”

Now, two years later, Mr Billings says Mr Singh has graduated — this time as a single father — with his daughter still by his side.

“And here he is now, two years later, graduating with his daughter by his side,” he wrote.

“This time as a single father, but still pushing forward, still persevering, still refusing to give up.”

Mr Billings said stories like Mr Singh’s were reminders that success was not always about having an easy journey, but about determination and resilience through hardship.

“Stories like this remind us that real success is not always measured by how easy the journey was, but by the determination to keep going despite the challenges.”

He congratulated Mr Singh on his achievement and wished him and his daughter a bright future ahead.

“I wish you all the very best, Jacob Noel Singh in your future endeavours,” he wrote.

“May you continue to find strength, wisdom, and opportunity ahead, and may your beautiful daughter be blessed with a bright and promising future.”

Mr Billings also encouraged the graduate to continue relying on faith during difficult times.

“Hang in there, and continue giving all your burdens to He who gives strength to the weary and rest to the heavy-hearted.”
