Peceli Yato is poised to make his much anticipated return to the national team.

The powerful loose forward returns to the FIJI Water Flying Fijians for the first time since 2023 after being named on the bench by interim head coach Senirusi Seruvakula for Sunday’s Nations Championship opener against Wales at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff Wales.

The biggest selection call sees Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula start at flyhalf, with Caleb Muntz a notable omission from the matchday 23.

Armstrong-Ravula will link with Frank Lomani in the halves as Fiji looks to make a strong statement in Cardiff.

Captain Tevita Ikanivere leads the side alongside Eroni Mawi and Tim Hoyt in the front row, while Josua Tuisova and Semi Radradra reunite in midfield in a combination expected to test the Welsh defence.

Speedsters Jiuta Wainiqolo and Selestino Ravutaumada provide the edge out wide, with Salesi Rayasi at fullback.

Yato headlines a strong bench that also includes Peni Ravai, Simione Kuruvoli, Vilimoni Botitu and Kalaveti Ravouvou.

The Flying Fijians face Wales at 1.10am Sunday in what shapes as a crucial opening test of their Nations Championship campaign.
