The Women’s Finance Exchange (WFE) officially kicked off its ‘Access to Finance Program’ yesterday, aiming to empower local women entrepreneurs with essential financial skills and knowledge.
Hosted by Business Assistance Fiji (BAF), the event brought together a diverse group of about 40 women from Suva eager to enhance their financial acumen.
BAF general manager Ramesh Chand acknowledged program partners and its goal to foster financial independence and business growth among women.
“Under the business industry program, we have climate action sensor, business continuity planning, business health check, and a number of trainings that we have been conducting in various areas,” Mr Chand said in his speech to participants.
“When we were asked to conduct this training, we realised that it was important.
“We have conducted trainings about access to finance, about finance, how to manage your finance, areas such as budgeting, cash flow and having a very clear focus on women entrepreneurs,” he said
Managing director of Capital Human Manita Ray and Asian Development Bank Gender specialist Uzma Altaf also provided insights on gender equality in financial access and the program’s alignment with broader development goals.
The two-day training program will focus on financial planning, management, and modelling, featuring sessions on budgeting, cash flow management, financial statement analysis, and understanding finance options with HFC Bank.
