FIJI Women’s under-19 captain, Ro Miriama Bakaniceva is optimist to representing the women’s U19 team for the Fiji Secondary School soccer competition on the 13-15th at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.
The Year 12 student of Vunimono spoke on her experience during the Oceania Federation Championship under 19 women’s championship in New Zealand and how her experience will help boost the team’s performance.
“Four years of playing soccer made me realise the passion I have for this sport and I would like to thank my parents especially my father who motivated me to play,” Bakaniceva said.
“Since I am one of the youngest players in the team I find it very challenging balancing training with studies.
“My trip to New Zealand was God’s plan for me to explore and get as much exposure to international tournaments and with the new uniform it will boost the team’s morale.”
The young Vunimono Village lass with maternal links to Kiuva Bau Tailevu thanked her parents for supporting her in her school and soccer career.
“My parents are my motivating factor in my life as they always cheering for me on the side line whenever I play and for my sister Adi Litia Bakaniceva she was also part of the U17 squad but dropped out but never gave up she is my source of inspiration.”
