A MOTHER who allegedly killed her daughter informed the court yesterday that her husband and family were aware that she had an extramarital affair.

Rozleen Razia Khan, who is standing trial at the High Court in Suva, is charged with one count of murder.

It is alleged that Ms Khan killed her four-year-old daughter on May 6, 2018 at Kasavu in Nausori after she drove their family car into the Rewa River.

During cross-examination, State lawyer Susana Serukai suggested to Ms Khan that on the said date, her anger and sadness drove her to try and kill herself and also her daughter.

The accused said she was not angry, but was sad because she had no one to help her with what she was facing from her husband.

Ms Khan admitted that she had an extramarital affair five years ago when her family was in Labasa and she had resolved the issue with her husband.

She revealed in her evidence that after they moved to Nausori, her husband started bringing back her past and they would constantly argue.

Gavin O’Driscoll is representing Ms Khan in the case.

The trial continues before judge Justice Vinsent Perera today.
