TERRY Walk in Suva was a hive of activity yesterday as many turned up to take advantage of the monthly Westpac Market Day.
Theresa Williams was among the vendors at yesterday’s market day.
The 22-year-old said the market day provided an avenue for small businesses to sell their products because there were no additional costs.
Ms Williams makes hand-made earrings that are sold under ‘Lima Talents Fiji’.
“I’ve always been making my own necklaces and anklets when I was small and growing up in Savusavu, we always had to compromise with what we had,” she said.
Her signature pieces are turquoise carriere and red coral.
Ms Williams said she had been making and selling her pieces for the past eight and half months.
For the young entrepreneur, what drove her was the need to earn money.
“When I got pregnant, I wasn’t earning for about nine months and four months after I gave birth so the feeling of wanting to earn again after so long gave me the wow factor that I needed,” she said.
“I’ve always known that if God gave me a talent that I could use to my advantage while making something different would make people happy.”
Her advice to young entrepreneurs is to keep pursuing their passion no matter how difficult the circumstances may be.
