Australian football legend Luke Wilkshire will be the chief guest at the Extra Supermarket Fiji FA awards night 2024, scheduled to take place on December 1 at the Crowne Plaza in Nadi.
Wilkshire earned 80 international caps and scored eight goals for Australia.
He also represented Australia in two FIFA World Cups (2006 and 2010), was part of the team that won the AFC Asian Cup in 2015 and competed in the 2004 Athens Olympics.
Fiji FA Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Yusuf expressed his excitement at Wilkshire’s participation, describing it as a significant honor.
“It’s an honor and privilege to have a FIFA Legend like Wilkshire grace the event,” said Yusuf.
“His impressive international career and contributions to Australian football make his presence at the awards night truly inspiring for Fiji’s football community.”
Wilkshire will be joined by his wife during his visit and is expected to partake in various activities.
“Wilkshire is expected to attend the Flick Hygiene Pacific Cup matches at Churchill Park in Lautoka and visit Fiji Ba Academy, further emphasising his commitment to connecting with the local football community.
“The former Socceroo midfielder’s presence at the Awards Night and his engagements with Fiji Football are anticipated to leave a lasting impact on football enthusiasts and aspiring players, “Yusuf added.
The Extra Supermarket Fiji FA awards night is returning after a three-year break, promising to be a memorable evening celebrating the best and brightest in Fiji football.
The event will feature 16 prestigious awards recognising outstanding players, teams, officials, and contributors to the sport.
