Whole of Fiji under heavy rain warning

A heavy rain warning is now in force for the whole of Fiji group.

The Nadi weather office states in its 10:30am special bulletin that an active trough of low pressure with cloud and rain affects the Fiji group.

There will be periods of rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms over Yasawa, Mamanuca, Viti Levu, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.

While rain is expected to ease to showers tomorrow from the west, it will become more frequent from later tomorrow.

There is the possibility of flash flooding of some low-lying informal settlements, communities, businesses and Irish crossings leading to traffic disruptions.

Surface flooding expected on streets particularly in urban areas with poor drainage systems.
