Update: 9:15PM THE whistleblower policy has been effective, says Fiji Revenue and Customs Service CEO Visvanath Das.
He made this comment at the Fiji Institute of Accountants 2017-2018 Symposium panel discussions earlier today.
Mr Das said during certain customs investigations, they had been coming out to the press with information because there was a need for transparency to be upheld at all times.
“I agree with the Government’s vision for low tax rate and we need transparency,” he said.
“We have seen in the recent times that there is a rise in the effectiveness of the whistleblower policy and I think this shows the effectiveness of our Government’s initiative and our commitment.”
