Where was it signed? | FCS investigates where Bainimarama signed off on dismissal of 17 MPs

The Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) is conducting an investigation to verify where FijiFirst leader Voreqe Bainimarama signed the termination letters of the 17 opposition MPs.

FCS commissioner Dr Jalesi Nakarawa said they were waiting for the investigation to complete.

“We are still investigating this,” Dr Nakarawa said.

“Will make a release once it is completed.”

FijiFirst party has terminated its 17 members for voting in favour of increasing salaries and perks for MPs but they remain members of Parliament until further notice.

Speaker of Parliament Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu has stated that he will not take any action against the MPs yet as he was waiting for legal advice from Solicitor General, Ropate Green.

Opposition MPs who were terminated from the FijiFirst party are Mosese Bulitavu, Sanjay Kirpal, Semi Koroilavesau, Shalen Kumar, Virendra Lal, Ioane Naivalurua, Sachida Nand, Vijay Nath, Viliame Naupoto, Ratu Josaia Niudamu, Penioni Ravunawa, Taito Rokomatu, Inia Seruiratu, Alipate Tuicolo, Naisa Tuinaceva and Jone Usamate.

Also terminated was Alvick Maharaj who was part of the Emoluments Committee.
