The acronym LANA stands for Literacy and Numeracy Assessment. It is vivid to be an “assessment” and not an examination.
It is a diagnostic assessment which equips teachers with a factual base line of which concepts a particular student has mastered.
It also overturns untouched stones revealing the concepts addressing student needs.
It’s a humble request to the public not to be misled or misinformed by those who do not understand the facts in regards to this assessment.
I believe the Ministry of Education is doing a wonderful job in carrying out this assessment in the best way.
I applaud the MoE Examination and Assessment Unit for their hard work and effort. I also commend the MoE for their fine effort in administering LANA this year.
The administration of LANA midway into the academic year allows the school heads and teachers to identify weaker students and provide additional attention to them as they work towards the end of year external examinations.
