Adverse weather conditions have resulted in the abrupt conclusion of the Primary Schools GIR Plus Festival at Bidesi Park in Laucala Bay, Suva.
Coordinator for Fiji Rugby Union’s Get Into Rugby Plus program, Oripa Lee who was present at the scene, said the students safety was a paramount concern and having such bad weather forced them to end the tournament.
“Despite the setback, all schools went home with a trophy each including some rural schools that travelled from afar to be part of the meet today and not just present them to the winners,” she said.
“Each participating school had already played a single match prior to the cancellation and were presented with a trophy before they departed the grounds.”
