THE West Secondary School Rugby League quarterfinals took place yesterday at Churchill Park, showcasing intense and competitive matches.
The West competition was divided into two sub-zones, the Lautoka/Nadi/Nadroga/Yasawa zone and the Ba/Tavua/Vatukoula/Ra zone. Each sub-zone concluded its matches last fortnight, with the top four teams from each advancing to the quarter-finals yesterday.
In the quarter-final matchups, the winner from the Ba/Tavua/Vatukoula/Ra zone faced the fourth-placed team from the Lautoka/Nadi/Nadroga/Yasawa zone, while the second-placed team from one zone took on the third-placed team from the other.
Match coordinator Jemesa Saqali highlighted the high level of competition.
“Since the West currently holds the U15 championship title at the national level, we saw a very competitive and exciting performance from the students. The competition level has definitely improved.”
