THE Fiji Rugby Union will confirm soon whether Osea Kolinisau will stay on as coach of the Fiji 7s men’s team.
FRU’s interim chairman Peter Mazey said they would make an announcement after meeting Kolinisau, who was expected to arrive in the country yesterday.
The 2024 Olympic Games silver medal coach indicated he was willing to stay on after the Paris Olympics.
The FRU has welcomed Kolinisau’s interest and is awaiting a final decision from the Fiji 7s 2016 Olympic Games gold medal winning captain.
He returned to the US after two meetings with the FRU last month to discuss the way forward with his wife.
With that aside, the Fiji 7s squad is expected to march into camp soon as the new series season will begin in November.
“The men will be going into camp shortly,” Mazey said.
“The men will be going into selection so when they come back together it will be to see who is fit.”
The interim FRU chairman is calling on the players to be mindful of their form during this break.
“I am saying to all the 7s boys if they wish to continue in the team then stay fit, keep it up, don’t go back into your villages eating all that food, grog, and forgetting rugby while enjoying your break.”
The first leg of the 2025 HSBC 7s series is scheduled for November 30 to December 1 in Dubai.
