The Ministry of Education is working with the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) to arrange water truck deliveries to schools affected by ongoing water supply disruptions in the Western Division.

Education Minister Aseri Radrodro said the ministry was coordinating with WAF to ensure water reached affected schools as quickly as possible.

“The Ministry of Education is actively working with the Water Authority of Fiji to coordinate the delivery of water trucks and ensure that water supplies reach schools in affected areas as quickly as possible,” Mr Radrodro said.

He said the disruptions could pose challenges for students, teachers and school communities.

Mr Radrodro has directed the Permanent Secretary for Education to inform all heads of schools in affected areas to work closely with their respective District Education Officers to coordinate water deliveries.

He said schools experiencing shortages that threatened sanitation, hygiene or safe operations must report the situation immediately.

“Any shortage that threatens essential sanitation, hygiene or the safe operations of a school should be reported immediately so that appropriate action can be facilitated.”

Mr Radrodro said coordination was essential to ensure available resources were directed to schools facing the most urgent needs.

“The health, safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our priority.”

He said the ministry was committed to minimising disruptions to teaching and learning while ensuring affected schools received the necessary assistance.

The minister also thanked school management, teachers, parents and communities for their patience and cooperation.

He said the ministry would continue monitoring the situation and provide further updates as necessary.
