GOVERNMENT is advising the public to avoid going to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital, the Lami Health Centre and the Raiwaqa Health Centre because of the water disruptions being experienced this week.
A Government statement highlighted that while certain cases were still being accepted at the CWM Hospital, the hospital’s clinics such as dental, eye, oncology and gynaecology have been temporary closed.
The Health Ministry is asking members of the public who need to access those services to visit health centres which still have adequate water supply.
Government highlights that services that remain open at CWM Hospital are the Accident and Emergency Unit, Intensive Care Units, Operating Theatres, the Labour Ward and the Children’s Ward.
Ante natal clinics will be partially open and expectant mothers due to deliver this month and in January are advised that the maternity wards will remain open for normal services.
Minister for Health Jone Usamate said the ministry was closely monitoring the situation and was working with the Water Authority of Fiji to ensure that members of the public continued to have access to health services.
Health centres still operating include Valelevu, Nasinu, Makoi, Wainibokasi, Nausori and Navua.
