THE Commissioner Western’s office has once again started its water emergency response exercise to areas without water.
“We are still receiving requests for water,” said Commissioner Western Manasa Tagicakibau.
“These are from people who had their water sources damaged during the cyclone.
“So we are doing what we can to help them. Water trucks are being dispatched to these areas and hopefully as time goes, we will be able to repair the water sources.”
He said affected areas included Nadroga, Nadi and Rakiraki.
The emergency exercise was halted earlier this year after Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston.
According to the Commissioner Western’s office, the exercise was revived after rainy conditions ceased following Tropical Cyclone Zena. The dry conditions have persisted in the Western Division over the past 18 months.
The operations centre in Lautoka carted more than 14 million litres of water last year to affected residents between Rakiraki and Sigatoka and maritime islands in the Mamanuca, Yasawa groups and Vatulele.
