The Topline Warriors had to dig deep to secure a 16-14 win against a strong Davuilevu Knights brigade during the Eastern Rugby League competition in Suva on Saturday.

Warriors skipper Kelevi Komaisavou praised his teammates for holding the fort throughout the game.

“It was a very close game here today (Saturday), the boys from Davuilevu gave us a very tough match. But I just want to thank the boys for pulling through,” the Gau lad said.

According to the skipper, they were able to execute what they have been doing at training throughout the week.

“We are happy with how we played because the boys were able to execute what we have been training.”

He also admitted that a few mistakes needed to be sharpened.

“I think ball handling was one of our weaknesses because it was raining heavily, but that should not be an excuse as we need to be prepared all the time. “We will go back and work on all our mistakes and come back better.”

Komaisavou said discipline was also an area they needed to work on as a team, as it had affected their game against the Knights.

“This gave our opponents a lot of penalties and opportunities to score.

“But other than that, I think the boys did good, and we are happy with the win.”

The Topline Warriors will be facing Nabua Broncos next Saturday.
