SINA Kami made a promise to her daughter, the late Tae Kami, that she would continue fighting for children suffering from cancer. Six years later, this fight is still going strong.
This is something the Kami family would never live without — to support and seek all the assistance they can to fight the battle against cancer.
Last week, the Fiji Cancer Society made an announcement that the organisation formed in the memory of the late Tae Kami — WOWS (Kids) Fiji — be registered on its own.
Despite this, a strong Sina reiterated that they would continue with the good work for the sake of these children who are affected by cancer.
“It’s something that we agreed on and we would continue to do this in Fiji and we are here to carry on no matter what happened,” Mrs Kami said.
“Even though we have been through this difficult time, for us the message is still there and we still need to carry this on. It’s not easy for us alone to do it, we need a great team behind us to move forward with this.
“When you have that passion and dedication the message says it all that no matter what we go through, we have to walk on and walk strong and we are willing to carry on.”
The mother of three said that when WOWS started, they thought they were going to do it in Tonga only, little did they know that they were going to end up in Fiji.
She added the motive was to inspire and especially support and assist those affected by the deadly disease.
“We believe in a mission and we are here to assist and help Fijian children suffering from cancer.
“Our simple message to Fijians is that we are not going to give up and we are here to move on and tell these people that WOWS is here to stay.
“We will walk on and walk strong with them and despite all these little problems we are going through, the song itself says it all — that through fear and fire, but in the end, the storm won’t last too long.
“It’s a strong message as well for us as a team and to those companies, organisations and individuals who have been supporting us. We would like to thank them and ask them as well not to give up especially for the sake of our children as these are the future of Fiji.
“Every time I see the face of a child suffering cancer, I see the face of my child and I see that as a child of God, and if we do this today, we are helping these children’s future.”
