WAF’s new board

Six individuals appointed to the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) board are now tasked with immediately looking into the critical water issues plaguing the country.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka confirmed their appointments, while thanking the outgoing chairperson and board members for their contribution over the years.

Mr Rabuka said the newly-appointed board, headed by Savenaca Seniloli as chairperson, would work closely with Government and key stakeholders to find solutions and improve operations.

The appointment was made in consultation with the Minister for Public Works, Ro Filipe Tuisawau.

“Each director brings with him or her new perspectives and experience that we are confident will add value to the operations of WAF,” Mr Rabuka said.

Mr Seniloli is an engineer and the national operations manager at Goodman Fielder International (Fiji) Pte Ltd.

The others are:

  • Amit Singh who serves on the Strategic Advisory Board for Alliance for Global Water Adaptation and is a member of the International Water Resources Association with more than 12 years of professional experience in the regional and Fiji water sectors;
  • Vula Vakacegu, an engineer by profession with experience in water development affairs;
  • Semi Leiwere, a consultant and former general manager for FNPF Investments Ltd. He holds an MBA and carries more than 20 years of commercial expertise in financial investment;
  • Graham Dooley, a director and adviser of Shamrock Advisory Pty Ltd and a former CEO for Water Utilities Australia specialising in civil engineering with a focus on water resources; and
  • Mele Rakai, a partner at Sherani and Co and the vice-president of the Fiji Women Lawyers Association. She is a board member of the Legal Aid Commission and the Fiji Girl Guides Association.
