VP elections

THE elections of three vice-presidents will be the top item on the Fiji Football Association 75th ordinary congress agenda at the Sugar Cane Growers Council building in Lautoka this morning.

Jitendra Prasad is seeking re-election for another term in the Western Division. Navneeda Gounder from Nadi is contesting against him.

The Southern Division vice-president Janendra Shuku is not seeking re-election.

Jiten Reddy of Nasinu and Sandeep Roy of Tailevu Naitasiri have sent in nominations for the position.

In the Northern Division Girja Prasad is seeking re-election and he is being contested by Edwin Rama from Savusavu.

Fiji FA chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf who will be the returning officer will verify which candidates meet the criteria to stand for the positions.

One of the criteria is that a person must serve a district association in an executive position for three years in the past five years.

“Interestingly the three positions are up for grabs,” said Yusuf.

“There are 19 full members so that is 38 votes. There are four affiliate members which will make it to 42 votes. Then the seven board of control members will vote making it a total of 49 votes.”

The ordinary congress will start at 10am.
