Villagers celebrate new facility

The villages of Nasau, Naivuniivi, and Veidrala recently celebrated the commissioning of their new Water and Sanitation Hygiene (WASH) Improvement in Health Care Facility at Nayavuira Nursing Station in Ra.

Health and Medical Services Minister Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu, while opening the new facility, acknowledged the Korean government for funding the project which was about $US1million ($F2.24m).

Dr Lalabalavu also thanked UNICEF which would be implementing the ministry’s respective projects however the onus was on community members to take care of the facilities.

Meanwhile, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Jin Hyung Kim said the facility was expected to contribute to improving the health of the Nayavuira villagers by providing them with clean water, safe sanitation, and health care.
