Vativa villagers celebrate Olympics achievement on Fiji Day

Fiji Day celebrations continued today at Vativa Village in Cakaudrove on Vanua Levu as villagers marched through the village with a banner portraying the Fijiana Olympic achievement.

Lino Roqica, the turaga ni yavusa Drakaniwai and father of Fijian captain Rusila Nagasau said they could not celebrate earlier because of COVID restrictions.

“In this Fiji Day celebrations, we are also celebrating the achievements at the Olympic Games in which my daughter Rusila capatined the Fijiana team and her cousin Ana Maria Roqica,” Mr Nagasau said.

“We also celebrate the successful achievements by sevens rep Benito Masilevu and our son Maika Roqica who plays league in Australia.”

There was also an entertainment program in place for the villagers who packed the village ground.
