The Vanua o Vuda has confirmed the passing of the late Tui Vuda, Ratu Eparama Kitione Tavaiqia, who died on Thursday, July 30.
Taukei Nakelo, Ratu Josaia Natakele, said the traditional protocols were observed before the news was made public.
He said the Vanua o Vuda first informed all traditional and chiefly houses across Fiji’s 14 provinces, including the President and Tui Cakau, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, before announcing the death publicly.
Ratu Josaia said the Vanua is now preparing for the late paramount chief’s funeral, which is scheduled for August 12.
The late Ratu Eparama was installed as Tui Vuda in February 2011 and served as the traditional leader of the Vanua for more than 15 years.
Traditional preparations for the funeral are now underway as members of the Vanua and visitors prepare to pay their final respects to the late chief.
