THE victim in a 2021 court case involving the late Jone Vakarisi has spoken out against the online circulation of her court statement, saying it was shared on social media without her consent.

The 22-year-old woman has urged Facebook users and pages to respect her privacy and stop spreading details of her past case, which she says has resurfaced publicly without her permission.

“I do not feel the need to justify myself,” she said, adding that while the matter has now escalated online, she felt compelled to respond after her statement from the 2021 proceedings was circulated.

She said she did not authorise Jaoji Savou or the Facebook page “Fijian Exposing Criminals” to publish details of her case, stressing that the information being shared was not released with her approval.

“This happened five years ago, and while the abuse I experienced should never be excused, I have chosen to forgive him and move forward.”

She also noted that despite the circumstances of the past case, the late Vakarisi remained involved in their son’s life.

“I urge everyone to show sympathy, compassion, and respect to the grieving families during this difficult time.”

It is understood that following Vakarisi’s death, various social media users have been sharing commentary and claims relating to past allegations, including assertions that victims had consented to the publication of their accounts online. The victim has rejected these claims as false.

Separately, the High Court was expected to hear a sentence review in relation to Vakarisi on 20 April 2025, following earlier proceedings connected to the case.
