THE University of the South Pacific has been able to sustain its Fijian studies program through the funding it receives from the iTaukei Trust Fund.

USP’s Dean for the Faculty of Law, Arts and Education Dr Akanisi Kedrayate said this during an interview with this newspaper today.

She said the number of students enrolling under the program had increased.

“We are really grateful for this funding support because at one stage we were going to close the program because we had only two teachers who were running the program and we could not sustain the program,” she said.

“However, two of us, Dr Williams who was here then and I, we approached the iTaukei Trust Fund if they could support the program.

“We wrote a proposal and they responded and that is how the program has continued to run.”
